How to Prepare for a Mobile Notary Appointment in Florida
A step-by-step guide to preparing your documents, identification, and signers so your Florida mobile notary appointment is quick, smooth, and legally sound.

Gather every page of every document
The most common reason a mobile notary appointment runs long is a missing page. Before your Florida notary arrives, print the entire document — including exhibits, addendums, and blank signature pages — and lay it out in the order it will be signed.
Wait to sign unless the document recipient has confirmed that the required act is an acknowledgment. A jurat must be signed in the Notary's presence; an acknowledgment may involve a signature made earlier, but the signer must still personally appear and acknowledge it.
Bring acceptable identification
Every signer must be identified through personal knowledge or satisfactory evidence allowed by Florida law. Common options include a Florida driver license, state ID, U.S. passport, or military ID; listed credentials may be current or issued within the preceding five years.
If your ID is expired or the name has changed, contact us before the appointment so we can confirm what Florida statutes allow as credible witness identification.
Confirm signers and witnesses will be present
Certain documents — wills, deeds, and many estate planning instruments — require additional witnesses beyond the notary. Confirm who needs to be at the signing and whether those witnesses need to be disinterested parties.
If you cannot gather enough witnesses, ask about our mobile notary service; we can often arrange qualified witnesses for an additional fee.
Choose a quiet, well-lit signing space
A kitchen table, conference room, or hospital tray table all work well. Good lighting helps the notary verify identification and lets every signer read the document clearly.
For hospital, nursing home, or jail signings, share the facility name in advance so access can be coordinated. The Notary observes awareness and willingness but does not make a legal capacity determination.
